He bought a BMW i8 supercar for just $25k
This man felt like Christmas had come early when he managed to get his hands on a BMW i8 supercar for just $25k.
From very far away, the i8 looked good, but it soon became apparent that it had some ‘quirks’ that needed sorting before it could be officially declared a certified bargain.
The quirks and deficiencies it came with certainly justified the shockingly low price tag, but the YouTuber put aside a tiny budget of just $30 to do all the repairs.
He uncovered the real reason it was so cheap
When the supercar came to him, the YouTuber found that there was a tamper dot on the gauge cluster, which showed there could be some issues or discrepancies with the odometer.
He’d given himself $30 as a budget for repairs. So his supercar refreshment leaned towards the lower end, with the car’s screen delamination being fixed and the electronic parking brake actuator being replaced for $26.
The service history revealed all manner of electrical issues, including pretty much total replacement of the AC compressor, airbags, instrument cluster, engine replacement, water pump, and head gasket.
Despite all of its quirks, he managed to sort most of the issues out, creating a usable, if quirky supercar.
