California man visits world’s largest Tesla Supercharger site and shows what it’s like

California is now home to the largest Tesla Supercharger site, and now we’ve been given a glimpse inside.

The site features 168 stalls, with half currently active, and an 11-megawatt solar array providing on-site power.

Tesla also confirmed that a lounge was under construction, set to open alongside the remaining stalls.

There are a few things that set this supercharger site apart.

What’s inside the largest Tesla Supercharger station

The largest Tesla Supercharger site is built in a quiet, remote area with very few commercial services nearby.

Temporary restrooms have been added for drivers, and the layout includes pull-through stalls for trucks and trailers.

A walkthrough video by Tesla Owners Silicon Valley shows hundreds of charging bays with both Teslas and non-Tesla EVs already using the chargers.

In the video we can see EVs including a Hyundai Ioniq and a Chevrolet Silverado EV charging.

The station is part of Tesla’s wider effort to increase Tesla charging access beyond its own vehicles.

The 11-megawatt solar array allows the site to operate without support from the local power grid.

It is one of the largest solar-powered charging stations in operation.

This setup may help reduce pressure on nearby charging points, especially during long weekends and peak travel seasons.

Tesla has confirmed that all 168 stalls are already installed, but only 84 are currently live.

The remaining stalls will be activated when the lounge opens later this year.

The lounge will follow a similar setup to the one at Kettleman City, which has served as a blueprint for other high-capacity Tesla charging sites.

How Tesla charging fits into broader EV infrastructure

The company has opened access to select Supercharger stations for non-Tesla EVs and introduced pricing models based on vehicle type.

This shift has positioned Tesla charging as a widely-used alternative to other networks that face reliability challenges.

Tesla charging is available to drivers with compatible adapters, including those driving vehicles from manufacturers that have committed to the North American Charging Standard.

Although non-Tesla drivers pay a higher rate, the site provides an additional option in regions where other chargers are limited or unreliable.

EV infrastructure in the United States continues to develop, and large stations like this one influence how future locations are built.

With scale, solar energy, and access for multiple brands, the largest Tesla Supercharger in California reflects current priorities in the shift toward electrified long-distance travel.

Tesla has not given a specific date for full site activation, but construction appears to follow patterns seen in similar rollouts across the network.
