Allow Great Wall Motor to introduce itself
Great Wall Motor (GWM) is a firm that is making waves in the car world.
It is a brand that is not well-known, but it could very well be about to.
At the end of last month, the Shanghai Auto Show was held.
As usual, the biggest and best brands unveiled its offerings and ideas for the future.
And, at said event, GWM unveiled its own engine – a 4.0 liter, gas-powered V8.
But it might be one of its announcements that is even more intriguing.
At the moment, GWM builds pickup trucks and SUVs for the Chinese market.
But it has come out and announced its plans to de-throne… Ferrari?
China is taking aim at Europe’s very finest
Wu Huixiao is the Chief Technology Officer of Great Wall Motor car company.
And it is Wu that has made the claims of GWM taking down Ferrari.
Wu did all of this during an interview on Chinese social media platform Weibo.
During said interview, the CTO revealed that the firm brought in a Nurburgring expert.
This was done in order to gain insight into testing at the famed track.
However, this incredibly ambitious project has come with some setbacks.
Reportedly, there have been issues with carbon fiber tub production.
Cost challenges are also reported to remain a challenge for GWM.
Mentioning the Ferrari SF90 Stradale has piqued the interest of the public.
Because it raises the likelihood of this GWM offering being a plug-in hybrid sports car.
We remain very excited to see how the GWM project materialises in the future. The post China claims a mystery sports car they’ve been working on for five years will be better than a Ferrari appeared first on Supercar Blondie.
