The driver of $3,000,000 one-of-one hypercar prototype was inches away from disaster while attempting parallel parking at a California hypercar convention.

Every year in the Californian town Carmel-by-the-Sea, The Quail is held, a Motorsports Gathering that happens in the middle of Monterey Car Week and only the best, fastest and most impressive supercars and hypercars attend.

Amongst these hypercars was the Apollo Project Evo, a daringly designed German hypercar with X-shaped LED headlights and a $3 million price tag.

New footage has emerged of the driver of the currently only prototype at the 2023 convention attempting to parallel park and narrowly avoiding disaster and a few million-dollar insurance fee.

Narrowly avoided disaster at this California hypercar convention

If you love supercars or hypercars, California in August is the place to be, especially the small town of Carmel-by-the-Sea.

Every year, as part of the Monterey Car Week, an unparalleled supercar meet-up takes place, and some of the rarest and fastest super and hypercars can be found cruising the Californian streets.

The convention is currently underway this year, but new footage from the 2023 convention has emerged of a truly unique hypercar getting itself into a bit of a pickle when attempting to parallel park.

It was a fairly high-profile gaffe because it was sure to have been a situation no one had ever seen before, as the Apollo Project Evo is currently a one-of-one prototype with a hefty price tag.

Apollo Evo is a one-of-one $3M prototype with style for days

Debuted at the 2021 China International Expo in Shanghai, the Apollo Project Evo, AKA just Apollo EV is a limited-edition mid-engine sports hypercar from German manufacturer Apollo Automobil GmbH.

Not only does the hypercar come with an instantly recognizable X-Shaped rear LED headlight setup, it also has running lights, and dramatic red and orange bodywork, giving it the look of being on fire.

Not only does it look cool, it comes with an electronically adjustable rear spoiler, aero fins and huge side intakes.

The Ferrari-derived 6.3-liter V12 engine kicks out an astonishing 770 horsepower and although it is mainly designed for track performance, it is (mostly) road legal in the majority of places.

This speed demon usually only impresses with its 0-60 mph in less than three seconds, but in a slightly embarrassing moment for the driver at the 2023 car convention, it was almost reversed into another car.

Thanks to a helpful bystander who jumped in to stop the progress of the rolling car, the $3 million Evo avoided any scratches or scrapes, important because at the moment, there’s only one prototype.

Apollo Automobil does plan to make 10 of these hypercars, but currently, this is the only one, so it needs to be handled with care – someone should probably let the driver know.
