Father unsuspectingly sends son a picture of Porsche he saw parked on the street, son’s jaw drops to the floor after he spots detail on it

A father, who was travelling in Munich, sent his son a picture of a Porsche he saw parked on the street, and the son’s jaw dropped to the floor after he spotted a particular detail on it.

Knowing his son is a big fan of air-cooled Porsches, this kind dad knew his son would love to see this unique supercar, but he didn’t realize that this one would cause such a jaw-dropping reaction.

Nicknamed the ‘Widowmaker’ due to its tricky handling, this 1975-1989 Porsche 911 Turbo (930) is not just any old Porsche hanging around on Munich’s streets; it’s a piece of Formula One history.

The Good Dad points that this father must have received from sending this to the Porsche superfan will probably be racking up after this.

The father’s pic of a Porsche parked on the street caused his jaw to drop

There’s nothing that supercar fans love more than seeing their favorite cars out and about on the street, but when this Redditor’s dad sent him a picture of a yellow supercar, his jaw dropped to the floor.

This son absolutely loves air-cooled Porsches, and his dad, who was travelling in Munich, found one out and about on the street and quickly sent a picture to his son, but he didn’t even realize what he had sent.

Known as the ‘Widowmaker’ due to its tricky handling, this yellow Porsche 911 is actually not just a simple 911; it is a symbol of both motorsports and Formula One history.

The 911 looked to be produced between 1975 and 1989, and the yellow supercar had period-era black graphics, but it was what existed under the hood that made it mind-blowing.

Formula One DNA in a road car

After the son ‘freaked out’, his dad went to chat to the Turbo supercar owner, who showed him under the hood, and it was carrying a real Formula One powerplant.

In the 1980s, McLaren partnered with Porsche, via TAG, to develop turbo engines for F1, and this street-legal time capsule of racing glory comes with a TAG-Porsche 1.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine.

The V6 was the same unit that helped one of the greatest F1 drivers ever, Alain Prost, roar to third place in his 1986 Spanish GP race.

The engine originally had the ability to kick out 1,000 horsepower, but has since been detuned for road use.

This supercar is not only a beautiful vehicle, it’s a gorgeous symbol of racing and Formula One history – no wonder it caused such a jaw-dropping response.
