Florida woman thinking about trading in her 2020 Porsche Cayenne after finding out cost to get A/C fixed

A Florida woman was thinking about trading in her 2020 Porsche Cayenne SUV after finding out how much it cost to fix the air-conditioning (A/C).

American Tayler Colwell posted a video of her ordeal on her TikTok account, @tayloercolwell. It went viral after she quoted how much it would cost to fix the Cayenne.

The sheer amount of money required made her wonder if she should go and trade the 2020 Cayenne in, as she could get another car for the same money.

She took to TikTok to ask her viewers and followers what she should do; however, some were more helpful than others.

How much was quoted to fix the 2020 Porsche Cayenne SUV?

According to Colwell, Porsche had quoted the repair for the air conditioning system on her Cayenne as a staggering $9,000.

The Floridian had hoped her extended warranty would cover the repair, but for some reason, the dealership had denied it.

That is what led to Colwell taking to TikTok to ask what she should do next, and if she should trade in the SUV.

While it seems unfair, reasons for denying Colwell’s extended warranty could be that the part wasn’t covered.

Other reasons include modifications to the vehicle or skipped service visits and vehicle abuse.

However, neither of these caveats look like they apply in this case.

A/C repairs should cost well below $9,000

While it can depend on the complexity of the repair and whether it needs a new compressor, the repair should have cost a lot less.

According to Repair Pal, the average cost for an A/C compressor replacement in a 2020 Porsche Cayenne is around $1,331 to $2,473.

If it were just a simple A/C recharge, then it should have cost no more than $28.

That is according to Kelley Blue Book, which is much lower than $9,000.

No matter what needed replacing or recharging on the Porsche, the sheer cost of the air-conditioning fix certainly raises eyebrows.

There might be quite a hefty labour cost as well as a ‘Porsche tax’ given the luxury status of the brand.

But that doesn’t quite explain why the cost was hiked to the $9,000 mark by the dealership involved.

Would you pay nearly $10k just to fix your air-conditioning, or would you trade the car in for another one?
