Speaking with SiriusXM NFL Radio, Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff shared what he’s seen so far from rookie center and second-round draft pick Tate Ratledge at Training Camp.
“I think he’s done a great job up to this point of handling it, and handling it maturely,” Goff said of Ratledge, who was an All-American and a two-time national champion with the Georgia Bulldogs. “I think that’s the hard part, as these rookies come in, is knowing the moment and knowing, like, ‘Alright, this is big boy stuff here,’ and a lot of people’s livelihoods are depending on you. And I think he’s shown that it’s not too big for him.”
Goff compared Ratledge’s readiness as a rookie to teammates Amon-Ra St. Brown, Sam LaPorta, and Aidan Hutchinson.
“The way I can help him is [to] try to take a little bit off his plate. Certainly, the pass game, I can do a lot for him there and try to get the protections right for him,” Goff continued. “Give him little tips and tricks here and there that I’ve learned over the years … There’s a million things.”
He added, “It’s fun to work with a young guy and try to help him out.”
