McMurtry Spéirling EV is unbelievable
The McMurtry Spéirling EV, like most EV hypercars, is truly out-of-this-world.
For one thing, it can literally drive upside-down, which you can read all about here.
It also currently holds the all-time lap record around the Goodwood track.
The McMurtry Spéirling EV set an incredible time of just 39.08 seconds back in 2022.
And the numbers only get even more incredible and unbelievable from there.
It will do 0-60 in a scarcely believable time of just 1.38 seconds.
If that isn’t impressive enough, 0-100 can be done in just 2.63 seconds.
Providing this inhuman level of performance is a fascinating, all-electric setup.
The single-seater fighter jet on wheels is powered by a twin-motor setup.
Two electric motors, mounted on the rear axle, provide the McMurtry Spéirling EV with over 1,000bhp.
Even more amazing is the Spéirling’s fan-powered downforce system.
This system provides over 2,000kg of downforce – putting it beyond F1 levels.
One thing that hasn’t been mentioned yet is the price – and for good reason.
After factoring in taxes and all that fun stuff, the McMurtry Spéirling EV costs around $1,250,000.
To put that in context, one could buy an island in the South Pacific for that money.
‘Thunderstorm’ erupts in 2021
The McMurtry Spéirling EV is a car with a very fascinating origin story.
David McMurtry was an Irish businessman who was born in Dublin in 1940.
He would go on to establish McMurtry Automotive in June of 2016.
The next three years saw the McMurtry Spéirling EV developed in secrecy.
2021 saw the official unveiling of the Spéirling – the Irish word for ‘Thunderstorm’.
The company unveiled the McMurtry Spéirling EV at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2021.
It wowed the masses in attendance, and then smashed the lap record the following year.
In all fairness, a South Pacific island can’t do 190mph, can it?The post McMurtry Spéirling EV hits 0-60mph in 1.38 seconds and costs as much as an island appeared first on Supercar Blondie.
