Instead of using unmarked cars, the new vehicles have graphics that mark them out. But they’re incredibly difficult to see in the full sunlight of the day, and only show up when headlights shine on them at night.

The ghost graphics are useful for catching drivers who might drive less dangerously when they know law enforcement is around.

The announcement has come with mostly negative responses on social media, but hopefully, this will change people’s driving habits if they think they’re being watched.

Like most places in America, speeding seems to be a problem in Missouri, and the state’s Highway Patrol has recently modified its patrol cars to try to deter it.

Because as it turns out, speeding doesn’t actually save you that much time.

That said, feedback on social media suggests that people think this process is a bit underhanded. But if you’re not misbehaving on the Missouri roads, then these new graphics should not be a problem.

Ghost graphics are also a good way not just to catch speeders, but also people who use other sneaky road tactics like tailgating, cutting people off, and dangerous or distracted driving.
