New Jersey Cybertruck owner receives surprising response from Tesla after submitting trade-in request

A Tesla Cybertruck owner from New Jersey has received an interesting response from Tesla after submitting a trade-in request.

The EV manufacturer has now started to accept pickup trade-ins, something that until May 2025 it wasn’t doing so.

After hearing about the change, a Cybertruck owner from Princeton, New Jersey, decided to see what he could get by trading in his truck.

The American turned out to be surprised by not just what Tesla offered him. But also the fact that they accepted his trade-in request with no debate or arguments.

The owner in question is a man called Vin, who shared his story on EV on the Tesla Cybertruck Owners Club forum online.

Vin’s truck is a 2024 Foundation Series Cybertruck, which he has only driven for around 6,200 miles.

Brand new, it would have cost Vin around $100,000 before the $2,500 DOC and destination fee.

But Tesla offered Vin $65,400 for his Cybertruck, which had done less than 10,000 miles.

That is a depreciation of 35 percent within a year, with Tesla saying the truck depreciated by over $5.6 per mile.

For an electric vehicle that has done so few miles, that does seem like an incredible level of depreciation.

Yet Vin was quite happy with the trade-in value, especially compared to what others had offered him.

The New Jersey man had previously gone to Carvana, to see how much they would offer for the pickup.

As he and others have said, Carvana is offering a lot less for any form of Cybertruck.

One owner was sent an offer of just $54,000 for a Cybertruck.

That truck was less than one year old and with under 10,000 miles on the clock.

Vin shared an email from Tesla on the forum.

This showed the mileage of his pickup truck as well as the trade-in estimate for the truck.

Yet naturally, others were not sure the offer was good enough for the truck.

One said, “Good thing I plan on driving mine until I die. There’s no point in trading in/upgrading with that low of an offer.”

Another said, “I’m gonna see if I can reincarnate as the next owner so I can maximize my return on investment.”

Some are just happy to get what they can for their Tesla Cybertruck. The post New Jersey Cybertruck owner receives surprising response from Tesla after submitting trade-in request appeared first on Supercar Blondie.
