NVIDIA has announced a significant partnership with Ansys and the Danish Center for Applied AI (DCAI) to push the boundaries of quantum computing in fluid dynamics. The collaboration leverages NVIDIA’s CUDA-Q platform running on the Gefion supercomputer, Denmark’s first AI supercomputer, to develop advanced quantum algorithms, according to NVIDIA’s blog. Advancing Quantum Algorithms The Gefion supercomputer, an NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD interconnected with NVIDIA Quantum-2 InfiniBand networking, plays a pivotal role in this initiative. It utilizes the open-source CUDA-Q software platform to conduct GPU-accelerated simulations of quantum algorithms specifically for fluid dynamics applications. This advancement is crucial for industries such as aerospace, automotive, and manufacturing, where fluid dynamics play an integral role. Collaboration Insights Tim Costa, NVIDIA’s senior director of quantum and CUDA-X, emphasized the importance of enabling extensive simulations to discover practical quantum applications. He noted that NVIDIA’s supercomputing platforms help researchers enhance the impact of quantum computing. Nadia Carlsten, CEO of DCAI, highlighted the partnership’s role in merging quantum technologies with AI supercomputing, unlocking hybrid quantum-classical computing for researchers using Gefion.
