One country has managed to pass Japan as Toyota sells over 100,000 Land Cruiser 300 Series cars worldwide

The Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series, the brand’s flagship full-size SUV, continues to be a global sales success.

In 2024, Toyota sold 105,700 units of the 300 Series worldwide, which is pretty impressive considering the Land Cruiser 300 Series doesn’t have a presence in North America.

That number reflects only a two percent drop compared to the previous year, signaling strong and consistent demand.

And for the first time since the model’s debut, Australia has overtaken Japan as the SUV’s largest market.

Strong demand for Toyota in the Middle East

The data was compiled by Felipe Munoz of Carindustryanalysis.

Australia led global sales with 13,790 units, narrowly surpassing Japan, which came in second with 13,174.

This result cements Australia’s position as one of the most loyal Land Cruiser markets, where the model’s rugged capabilities suit the country’s harsh and expansive terrain.

In fact, it’s so suitable that a Land Cruiser actually set the longest underwater drive record in Darwin, Australia, driving in shark and crocodile-infested waters.

Meanwhile, the Middle East remains the 300 Series’ strongest regional base, accounting for a massive 59 percent of total global sales.

Notable markets include Saudi Arabia (12,381), UAE (9,319), Oman (8,882), Qatar (8,685), Kuwait (8,028), Iraq (7,133), and Jordan (2,849), all of which landed in the global top ten.

Russia also made a surprise appearance in ninth place with 3,682 units, despite Toyota halting official deliveries there in 2022.

The continued demand for the Japanese car comes from unofficial sales channels and parallel imports.

Outside of Japan and the Middle East, Australia and Russia were the only two countries to break into the top ten.

New hybrid Land Cruiser 300 Series

First launched in 2021, the Land Cruiser 300 Series rides on Toyota’s TNGA-F ladder-frame platform.

Recent updates have kept the model competitive, including a digital instrument cluster for 2025 and a new hybrid powertrain for the 2026 model year.

The electrified version, combining a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 with a single electric motor, produces a class-leading 457 horsepower.

This makes it the most powerful Land Cruiser to date.

North American buyers only get the Land Cruiser 250 Series, but at least they can get their hands on one that can withstand explosions and bullets.

With the hybrid rollout and new tech onboard, Toyota is well-positioned for another strong year, especially as the brand continues winning the hearts of drivers. The post One country has managed to pass Japan as Toyota sells over 100,000 Land Cruiser 300 Series cars worldwide appeared first on Supercar Blondie.
