Construction is already underway and the 18-hole layout, designed by architect Steve Smyers, is scheduled to open in Fall of 2026. Fenmoor will join The Creek Club and Richland, which debuted last year, as the third private course at Reynolds Lake Oconee, where golf demand has surged in recent years among a residential base that’s continued to not only grow but get younger. Ahead of Richland’s 2024 opening, annual rounds at Reynolds Lake Oconee’s courses had jumped 44% compared to pre-pandemic years. Located in the northeast corner of the 12,000-acre lakefront community, Fenmoor will occupy a distinctive site at the headwaters of Lake Oconee, featuring marshland edges, native grasses, and rolling terrain that provides natural elevation changes and water features throughout the routing. Nine greens will be positioned directly along the water’s edge, with Lake Oconee visible from much of the course. “The land is absolutely ideal for golf,” said Smyers. ” We’re very fortunate to have a piece of property this diverse, with the movement of the land — gentle rolls, swales, valleys, hummocks, mounds, and ravines — combined with the presence of water running through it.
