Sabrina Carpenter Calls ‘Emails I Can’t Send’ the ‘Gateway’ for Her Career on Album’s 3-Year Anniversary
"I will never take this chapter for granted," the pop star wrote.
Sabrina Carpenter is feeling reflective on the anniversary of Emails I Can’t Send, which hit inboxes three years ago today.
In an emotional post on her Instagram Story on Tuesday (July 15), Carpenter shared the LP’s cover and wrote, “3 years of my dear emails.”
“this album means so much to me and was the gateway to many special moments i couldn’t see ahead,” she continued. “I will never take this chapter for granted and what it taught me and how much closer it brought me to each and every one of you.”
“Thanks to those of you who sing along,” Carpenter added. “I love you forever!”
Released on July 15, 2022, via Island Records, Emails I Can’t Send was a crucial stepping stone for the Girl Meets World alum. The project reached No. 23 on the Billboard 200 — then her highest-ever position on the chart — and spawned some of her first Billboard Hot 100 entries, “Nonsense” and “Feather.”
“i kind of had to unlearn myself and learn myself again in order to make this album,” Carpenter wrote on Instagram when Emails was first released. “it’s the one i’m most proud of thus far in my life. it’s the one i hope you listen to and feel like we were hanging and confiding in each other for an hour.”
After touring in support of Emails — including a stint as opener on Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour — Carpenter dropped her sixth studio album Short n’ Sweet, which became her first-ever No. 1 LP on the U.S. chart. Featuring smash hits “Espresso,” “Please Please Please” and “Taste,” Short n’ Sweet grew the audience Carpenter built with Emails and led to her winning her first ever Grammys.
The hitmaker is now gearing up to release her seventh album, Man’s Best Friend, in August. The project was preceded by Hot 100 No. 1 single “Manchild.”
