Tesla fans went into meltdown over ‘new prototype’ until they realized it was something else entirely

Tesla fans got themselves pretty excited last week after images of a new EV prototype were shared online, but the truth turned out to be something different.

A couple of blurry images were posted on X showing a camouflaged EV prototype on an undisclosed road.

The photos were soon picked up by numerous Tesla accounts, and folks began to speculate that it could be a brand-new vehicle from the marque.

“A new heavily camouflaged Tesla prototype has been spotted, possibly a more affordable model or the rumored Model Q,” wrote the Tesla Newswire account.

To be fair, it was a pretty easy mistake for car enthusiasts to make.

Tesla has previously said it was planning on releasing a cheaper EV at some point in the future, while rumors have swirled about the Model Q for months

However, shortly after social media users began to chip in with their predictions and guesses on what the mystery ‘Tesla’ might be, it was revealed what the car actually was.

And it was bad news for anyone hoping for a new Tesla to be launched

Carmaker Faraday Future (FF) responded to a post on X, confirming that the vehicle in question was actually its Faraday X Prototype Mule.

FF even made a cheeky comment thanking Tesla fans for its newfound viral fame.

“That’s our testing vehicle, a Faraday X Prototype Mule,” the official Faraday Future X account wrote

“Thanks for all the attention, stay tuned to learn more on FF.com!”

Faraday Future hasn’t had a smooth ride in recent years, having been hit with bankruptcy, liquidation, and litigation.

However, in a follow-up comment, it confirmed it was still planning to mass-produce an EV.

“Our Hanford factory is looking to prepare a flexible production line for FX units with an annual capacity of over 30,000 total units, including FF,” the marque wrote.

It went on to say the flexible assembly line would be capable of producing multiple models, from its top-of-the-line $300,000 FF91 2.0 Futurist Alliance hypecar to a luxury minivan.

So, it seems as though Faraday Future could be one to watch in the… erm future. The post Tesla fans went into meltdown over ‘new prototype’ until they realized it was something else entirely appeared first on Supercar Blondie.
