The Edge chats with Public Enemy leader Chuck D on a new episode of the U2 guitarist’s U2 X-Radio series, “Close To The Edge,” on SiriusXM.
Listen as the music legends reflect on touring together during U2’s iconic ZooTV tour in the early ’90s, their punk-rock influences, AI in music, and the future of protest music. Chuck D just released “Chuck D Presents Enemy Radio: Radio Armageddon,” his first solo album in seven years.
“The highlight [during the ZooTV tour] that gets talked about is when we played in Arizona at Sun Devil Stadium, and we protested them not having a Dr. King holiday,” Chuck says. “So we played our intro, then we played “By the Time I get to Arizona,” and then left the stage. That was a statement that resonated, and we thank you for understanding that.”
