Inspired by one of the rarest and most iconic creations from Alfa Romeo, this hand-built marvel brings the 1967 Tipo 33 Stradale roaring back to life.
The PPW R33 isn’t just a tribute – it’s a full-blown love letter to Italian design.
A reimagined classic that looks like it belongs in a gallery.
And judging by the fan reaction, it’s already elbowed its way into more than a few dream garages.

How a five-year passion project brought an Alfa Romeo icon back to life
Alfa Romeo never revived the Tipo 33 itself, so David Hutchinson took it upon himself to make it happen.
Working with UK-based coachbuilder PPW, Hutchinson spent five years crafting the R33, and what it created was breathtaking: a lightweight, hand-formed aluminium machine powered by a dry-sump Ferrari-Maserati 4.2L V8 producing around 400 horsepower.
It’s old-school to the core.
There’s no ABS, no traction control, and no power steering.
Just a six-speed manual, throttle bodies, and a chassis that mirrors the original Tipo 33’s proportions – built from scratch using modern materials.
This isn’t a mod-job.
The R33 isn’t built on top of another car – it’s been engineered entirely from scratch to feel like a vintage racer you can drive on the road.
Add in the butterfly doors, that Alfa Rosso Corsa paint, and you’ve got something that doesn’t just turn heads – it stops people in their tracks.
Only 33 of these will ever exist.
Pricing starts at around $723,000 ( £540,000) plus taxes, and the first example will make its public debut at the PH Annual Service.
Fans are calling the PPW R33 the most beautiful car since the 1960s
The internet’s verdict? “Wow.”
Several couldn’t believe the PPW R33 wasn’t a factory Alfa Romeo project.
One fan called it ‘the most desirable vehicle on sale since the 1960s.’
Another said what many were thinking – it’s hard to believe this took so long.
“Phenomenal. I always wondered why no one attempted to revive this model in some form,” they said.
Sure, there are those who wish it had a more period-authentic interior, or four headlights like the original.
But overwhelmingly, people are touched by how faithfully – and ‘beautifully’ – the R33 captures the spirit of the Stradale.
Built from scratch, styled like a dream, and driven by obsession – the R33 is what happens when passion gets a V8.
Now good luck getting it out of your head.
