This guy spotted the GAC Pickup 01, a Cybertruck wannabe from China, at a car show in Shanghai.
The truck is clearly inspired by Cybertruck, but it costs a lot less.
More to the point, it has more features.
There’s one in particular that’s a potential game changer.

This Cybertruck knockoff has an incredible feature
A content creator who goes by joyevs_studio traveled to Shanghai to check out some cool cars at the car show, and this truck certainly stood out.
Simply dubbed Pickup 1, this is a heavy-duty truck built by GAC, a Chinese manufacturer.
The truck has a long list of interesting features that Cybertruck doesn’t have.
For example, it has 12,000Nm of torque, more than Tesla’s truck, and intelligent chassis control that adjusts the truck’s torsional rigidity depending on the surface you’re on.
Translated, it means the truck knows whether you’re on tarmac, sand, gravel and so on, and changes accordingly.
But the best part about it is the steering wheel, which you can move from left to right.
Pickup 1 uses steer-by-wire, which means there’s no steering column and the steering wheel isn’t physically connected to the wheels – only digitally – which in turn means it can move around the dashboard.
So, in theory, you could set off from London with the steering wheel on the right-hand side of the car, drive to France through the tunnel and simply move your steering wheel to the left-hand side of the car.
Genius.
And by the way, GAC Pickup 01 only costs $41,000.
The reason Chinese automakers are taking over
Modern cars are all about software and a lot of things that used to matter in the past are no longer crucial.
Even engines, ironically, are no longer that important, considering so many cars today are electric.
This gave legacy brands a headache because they had to rethink their strategies and repurpose their factories.
By contrast, it gave automakers from China a clean slate, because most of them started pretty much from scratch.
This also explains why so many tech companies, from Huawei to Xiaomi, are now making cars.
The other key selling point, though, is the price.
The Xiaomi car, for example, starts at around $30,000, which probably explains why it’s already outselling Tesla. The post US man says the $41K Chinese Cybertruck knockoff is a more futuristic version of its Tesla counterpart appeared first on Supercar Blondie.
