Vauxhall Cavalier found abandoned is on its way to setting a world record for vehicle inspection failures

This 1985 Vauxhall Cavalier found abandoned is now on its way to setting a world record for vehicle inspection failures.
It’d been sitting in a garage since 1996 and was looking worse for wear, to say the least.
After being rescued, it was brought back to life by YouTube channel Tasty Classics.
But would it pass its vehicle inspection?

Car world records are often a little unusual
When it comes to cars setting world records, there’s some that seem pretty standard.
Take the world’s longest drift record, for example, or the world’s longest truck.
And there are quirkier examples, like an unusual parking record or the supercars gathered at a Hindu-Buddhist temple.
In a similar vein, one Vauxhall Cavalier may be on its way to having a record of its own.
Not that it’s one to wear with pride, mind you.
And that’s because this could be the car with the most vehicle inspection failures in the world.
Given that it was left abandoned in a garage for years, it’s no surprise that there were some issues.
YouTube channel Tasty Classics had done the legwork in getting the car up and running again.
But the car needed to pass its MOT – a UK government test required to test a vehicle’s safety, exhaust emissions, and overall roadworthiness.
It’s not clear what the world record on MOT failures is.
But failing one isn’t something any driver would want.
So could this car pull it off?
Would this Vauxhall Cavalier pass with flying colors?
Inspection of the engine found bits of debris still in there, such as a bird’s nest and pieces of snail shells.
It’s a slight step up from having mice live inside the car, like this Honda Acura NSX, but that’s not saying much.
We’ll cut the suspense – the car’s rusted and decayed body wasn’t going to pass this test by a long shot.
By the end of the test, there were 33 failures noted.
“Didn’t pass the brake test at all…it’s had better days,” the tester commented.
Among the 33 issues cited was a leaking fuel tank, tire bulges, a corroded master cylinder, and a whole lot of corrosion on the car’s body.
