The immovable Mustang brand is back and bigger than ever in 2025.
Having faced a turbulent volt-injected year in 2024, new additions to the lineup have put the Ford series back on its muscle car podium.
But while the GTD is doing some heavy lifting, some restored and supercharged Shelby cars are coming out of the woodwork to take full advantage of the hype.

This Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 KR is looking to be the ‘King of the auction Room’
Hot off the back of the new Ford Mustang GTD, a number of engineers are getting under the hood of other recent Shelby cars and working their magic on this iconic series.
Particularly, one recently fire-damaged GT500 was revived into a spectacular rubber-burning demon.
Now, one Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 KR has appeared for sale online. And it really is a car worth its monarchy title.
Spotted on Exotic Car Trader, this collector’s item is a throwback to its dominant ’60s ancestor. But takes advantage of every scrap of modern muscle manufacturing.
Powered by a formidable 5.2-liter Predator V8 and a 3.8-liter Supercharger, the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 KR boasts a massive 900hp.
In this particular model, the car has been fitted with the carbon fiber track package and performance spec tires, ready to throw its muscle down the straight. It also has every bit of the 60th anniversary Shelby branding.
But it doesn’t come cheap.
The one-of-60 Shelby GT500 KR – number 42 – is currently being sold with an asking price of $240k.
The Mustang era is back in full swing
The new GTD, as seen being driven by Jay Leno, is the tip of the iceberg for Ford this year.
Having seen a trend of Mustangs hit the auction room, the GTD is paving the way for a new Shelby.
Set to be revealed this week, during the Monterey Car festival, a new Shelby Mustang has been teased. And it boasts a huge wing that screams power and speed.
