American uses Amazon’s cheapest turbocharger on pocket bike and we don’t recommend you try this at home

An American YouTuber fitted a mini bike with a bargain Amazon turbocharged diesel engine to create… well, this weird DIY pocket bike.
This unusual build saw a stock-standard 196cc diesel engine get a power boost of around 400 percent.
The whole project was done cheaply using a mini bike kit and some additional bits bought from Amazon.
And the result is a turbo-boosted mini bike that cost less than $1,000 to create.

The pocket bike was kitted out with a cheap Amazon engine
Occasionally, you’ll come across a vehicle modification enthusiast who does things a little differently.
Take the guy who put saw blades on his Corvette and took it out on a frozen lake, for instance, or the man who turned a Chevrolet G20 van into a snowmobile.
The team behind the BUM YouTube channel is full of such folks; in fact, the channel’s bio proudly proclaims that they ‘are dedicated to making the most insufferable machines on the internet’.
In a recent upload, they put this to the test by buying a mini bike kit from GoPowersports, which included everything except the engine and cost $677.
Of course, the bike needed an engine, so they turned to Amazon, where they found a 196cc diesel for a very affordable $110.
However, after dropping the engine into the pocket bike, they discovered that it had a maximum top speed of just 6MPH (9.6KMH). Not ideal, right?
The YouTubers then turbocharged the engine
With the minibike’s low speed not quite what the YouTubers were after, they decided to seek out Amazon’s cheapest turbocharger and managed to get their hands on one for just $129.99.
But as they were using a cheap turbocharger and even cheaper engine, the guys from BUM weren’t exactly hopeful that it would boost the mini bike very much.
They decided that if it managed to get the bike up to 20MPH – a 300 percent increase – they’d be happy.
However, in the end, the turbocharged diesel engine performed even better than they had dared to hope, pushing the bike’s top speed up to 24.4MPH.
Yep, that’s a 400 percent increase on the original engine’s top speed.
Not only that, but the whole thing only cost $916.99, so all in all, not a bad little project.
