iOS 26 finally adds video playing as an Apple CarPlay feature
After being announced earlier this summer, iOS 26 is set to arrive any time now. And with it will come some great new additions for your cars.
An overhaul of the CarPlay system is expected. It’ll include a new look layout and adjustable widgets that will allow you to keep an eye on multiple unfolding events at once, including maps, music, weather, and more.
Maps specifically will be getting a massive boost, allowing you to track friends.
But the biggest CarPlay feature in iOS 26 is a video player.
Apple itself confirmed that a new AirPlay connection will enable you to watch videos on the screen.
Of course, for safety reasons, this is only when the car is stationary. There’s no streaming Netflix on the freeway allowed.
This is a staple move from the likes of Tesla, and it was only a matter of time before Apple included it.
Apple CarPlay is upping its game for good reason
While CarPlay has been a revelation for many drivers, a lot of manufacturers are now opting not to have the infotainment system in their cars.
Specifically, BMW, Mercedes, and Volkswagen have all partnered to make their own version.
While some manufacturers have jumped on board with the new CarPlay feature, many manufacturers look to be waiting in the wings to see what the tech wizards are capable of and how its users really feel about it.
With Apple CarPlay taking full control of your car with iOS 26, even using its liquid glass features, it might be the saving grace that the company needed.
Now, at least you can kick back and relax watching an episode of F1 Drive to Survive while waiting for your kids after school, or get a quick Friends fix when your partner is grabbing a coffee. The post Apple users discover iOS 26’s biggest CarPlay feature has been quietly hiding all this time appeared first on Supercar Blondie.
