Retired salesman is handing out tips to answer hard car dealership questions
Being at a dealership is a daunting experience, and salesmen even have their own language, which makes it even harder to walk away with a good deal.
Having once been a salesman himself, CarEdge owner Ray Shefska has taken to social media with a range of new tips and tricks for buyers.
He set up his account to make buying cars a ‘remarkably pleasant and pain-free experience’.
In a recent upload, he offered a range of advice to keep the car dealership questions at arm’s length when discussing prices.
First off, he advised keeping your cards and finances close to your chest until you find out the ‘out-of-door price’ of the vehicle.
He also said to refrain from telling the sales rep whether you’re a cash buyer, financing, trading in, or prepared to pay a deposit, until you know what price you’re getting to drive it home.
It seems like a repetitive system, but this way you know everything that you have to pay, including the car’s value, the sales tax, title, license fees, and any other additional dollars thrown in for good measure.

Salesmen all look out for the same thing
Much of the advice from Ray is based around first impressions and getting the information out of the car dealership.
First impressions are key, and it’s noted that some salesmen will even keep an eye on what you drove there, judging which cars make you ‘look rich’.
Another saleswoman also revealed that you shouldn’t bring more than one person to a dealership, as too many chefs in the kitchen is a recipe for disaster.
Now if you really want a test, get your eyes on a Lincoln, as the likelihood is that the cars are practically being given away by local dealers…
