Jeff Bezos is a businessman with an interest in autos
The billionaire – CEO, entrepreneur, born in 1964 – is known to have an impressive collection of cars, including a $4.8M Koenigsegg and a huge superyacht.
But now, a brand that he backs has revealed details about its electric pickup truck for the US.
There’s only one Slate model

The Slate start-up has revealed that there is only one model available, and while the basic model is called the ‘Blank Slate’, it can actually be customized to your heart’s content.
“Slate vehicles are about accessible personalization,” stated the company.
To take it from basic to jazzed-up, you can select from over 100 accessories and even bundles.
They don’t have to be bought when you purchase the EV pickup either, they can also be bought over time whenever you feel like adding to your truck.
The EV truck can even be turned into an SUV thanks to a ‘flat pack’ accessory kit, which converts it into an SUV that can seat five people.
If that wasn’t enough, there are also three levels of vehicle wrapping to make each customer happy.
It’s significantly different to what Tesla has to offer

Tesla is known for the flashy, high-tech features fitted into its vehicles, but Slate has taken a slightly different approach.
The company has a ‘bring your own’ approach and says that ‘rather than learning a new interface [you can] use the one you love’.
Instead, it has a universal phone mount and USB power, with the option to add a tablet.
Other important specifications include the truck’s range, expected to be 150 miles, with a longer-range battery pack expected to extend it to 240 miles.
It’s all powered by a 150kW single, rear-mounted motor with the capability to tow about 1000lbs.
The EV pickup truck is expected to cost $20,000, and gearheads that are already interested can place a $50 fee on the website to reserve, which is also refundable.
The new offering sure is cheaper and more stripped back that what Tesla has provided – but will it perform too?
Only time will tell – and the future looks promising. The post Bezos-backed Slate reveals brand new sub-$20K electric pickup for America — and it’s Tesla’s opposite appeared first on Supercar Blondie.
