Members of the California Police Department must find some unique things in the course of their jobs.

From stolen cars to catching criminals, California cops see it all.

However, this unusual motorcycle might be the most unique find they’ve ever come across.

Far from simply being a motorcycle, nothing is as it seems.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is one of America’s most famous law enforcement agencies.

For 95 years, the CHP has been responsible for patrolling the state’s roads and highways.

Aside from its standard, car-based patrol fleet, the CHP is very well-known for its motorcycle fleet.

In fact, the CHP and its motorcycles were once immortalized in an iconic TV series.

From 1977 to 1983, CHiPs presented the daily life of the California Highway Patrol.

Erik Estrada and Larry Wilcox, portrayed CHP officers Frank Poncherello and Jon Baker.

Today’s story from the California Highway Patrol also features two wheels.

However, this two-wheeled story is far from what you might expect.

Over this past week, on May 22nd, California police pulled over a Quatrevelo vehicle.

In case you’ve never seen one, it essentially looks like a bobsled with four wheels.

In reality, the Dutch-built Quatrevelo is a bicycle encased in a car shell.

California police in El Centro pulled over this Ferrari-painted Quatrevelo.

Upon further inspection, the police actually realized that it was a…bicycle.

When they realized what they uncovered, the CHP tried to play it off as a light-hearted joke.

The CHP’s Facebook post claims that ‘our Officer wanted to make sure the rider was safe and hydrated as he continued on his journey.’

Naturally, the general public has been extremely skeptical of this reasoning.

Despite being over 100 degrees on May 22nd, people are convinced that CHP was looking for an excuse to write a citation.

Whether the traffic stop was sincere or cynical is not entirely clear.

It must be said that the Quatrevelo is more than an interesting find anywhere in the world. The post California police pull over this unusual motorcycle for an unexpected reason appeared first on Supercar Blondie.
