Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon and one of the world’s wealthiest individuals, isn’t taking any chances when it comes to life aboard his superyacht fleet.
After being airlifted from a cruise ship in the Galápagos Islands due to a sudden medical emergency in 2014, Bezos has added a hospital to his $600 million superyacht fleet.
The fleet now includes the Koru, a 417-foot sailing yacht, and its 250-foot support vessel, Abeona, which houses the onboard medical clinic.
It’s luxury, preparedness, and peace of mind—all cruising together on the open ocean.

The Abeona isn’t your typical backup boat, as it’s larger than most yachts.
This sleek support vessel is packed with gear to make sure everything runs smoothly when Bezos and his guests are living their best lives offshore.
There’s a helipad and a hangar for his Airbus ACH135 helicopter, space for about 45 crew and support staff, and now, a full-blown medical setup in case anything goes sideways.
It’s like bringing a luxurious floating hospital along for the ride.
Meanwhile, the Koru is the star of the show.
Built by Dutch yacht-maker Oceanco and delivered in 2023, it’s the largest sailing yacht in the world, coming in at a jaw-dropping 417 feet.
With its deep navy hull, towering triple masts, infinity pool, Jacuzzis, and accommodations for up to 18 guests, this vessel is less boat and more private island resort that just happens to move.
In fact, it’s so large that it’s not allowed to moor in most ports, which is pretty funny.
The name Koru, which comes from the Māori word for a spiral symbolizing new beginnings, is a nod to Jeff Bezos’s fresh chapter in life.
It is also possibly a reference to his relationship with fiancée Lauren Sánchez, who often joins him on board.
While details about the floating clinic are being kept under wraps, the addition shows just how serious Bezos is about combining adventure and security.
Extended ocean getaways can take guests far from medical help, so if you’re one of the world’s richest billionaires, why not just bring the ER with you?The post Jeff Bezos was once airlifted off a cruise ship so now his $600m yacht fleet has a floating hospital appeared first on Supercar Blondie.
