China’s next supercar is on the way thanks to Great Wall Motors (GWM) and it looks like the marque could be hoping to seriously rival Ferrari.
The Chinese automaker has been quietly working away on its supercar project for five years.
As yet, the car doesn’t have a name.
But GMW has just given up our first glimpse at China’s next supercar.

China’s next supercar could rival Ferrari
Currently, Great Wall Motors focuses its attention on SUVs and pickup trucks, but a few months back, speculation began to swirl that the marque was working on China’s next supercar.
In April this year, GWM confirmed it was developing a supercar and had been for the last five years.
Chief Technology Officer, Wu Huixiao, said the project started when the CEO expressed an interest in building a car designed to give drivers an adrenaline rush.
Wu was questioned if that meant the upcoming vehicle would be a sports car or China’s next supercar; she confirmed it would be the latter.
She even confidently said the upcoming vehicle is ‘better’ than a Ferrari.
Great Wall Motor’s Chairman Wei Jianjun was seen driving a Ferrari SF90 during an interview.
This was brought up to Wu, who was then asked how the unnamed Great Wall Motors supercar would compare.
“What we do is definitely better than theirs,” she replied confidently.
A bold claim.
Wu has confirmed the supercar will have a monocoque chassis made of carbon fiber, but all other details and specs have been kept strictly under wraps.
It’s thought the new supercar could be a hybrid, fitted with GWM’s newly-developed bi-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine paired with an electric motor.
GWM debuted the new in-house V9 earlier this year at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show and said it planned to introduce it to several high-performance models, including SUVs and trucks.
GWM has now shared a first-look at the supercar, albeit one where it’s completely covered.
In an image shared on Weibo to mark GWM’s 35th anniversary, executives posed in front of a mystery vehicle covered in a large black sheet.
Most US carmakers think Chinese cars will come to American market
China’s next supercar could also one day come to the US, at least that’s what almost all US automakers think.
The Kerrigan Advisors’ 2025 OEM Survey polled top executives across the American automotive industry.
The study revealed that 76 percent thought Chinese-made cars – like the mysterious supercar above – ‘will eventually enter the American automotive market. The post China’s next supercar has been five years in the making and has Ferrari firmly in its sights appeared first on Supercar Blondie.
