Salinas, California-based band Clave Especial celebrates a career milestone with its first No. 1 on a Billboard chart, as “Tú, Tú, Tú” with Edgardo Nuñez crowns the Regional Mexican Airplay chart (dated Aug. 16). The band’s first-ever chart-topper also gives Nuñez’s his third consecutive on the chart.

“We are extremely excited with ‘Tú, Tú, Tú’ hitting No. 1 on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart,” says Alex Ahumada, lead vocalist. “Thank you, Edgardo Nuñez for coming on board, and grateful to our fans, we love you.”

Clave Especial’s new achievement comes after the group’s top 10 breakthrough on the Top Latin Albums and Regional Mexican Albums charts, where its first studio album, Mija No Te Asustes, peaked at Nos. 8 and 5, respectively, in March.

While “Tú, Tú, Tú,” with Edgardo Nuñez, marks the album’s debut entry on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart, seven tracks from the set (including “Tú”) have already secured spots on the multi-metric Hot Latin Songs chart. Among those, “No Pasa Nada,” with Fuerza Regida, marked the group’s highest-ranked track until this week, as “Tú” rises 14-12, a new peak. Hot Latin Songs blends streaming activity, airplay and digital sales into its formula.

For its coronation, “Tú, Tú, Tú” improved by 16% across regional Mexican stations in the United States, that’s 7.1 million audience impressions earned in the tracking week ending Aug. 7, according to Luminate.

The song, released on Feb. 20 via Street Mob/Warner Latina, marks Clave Especial’s first-ever No. 1 on the Billboard charts, following three previous top 10 hits across the Latin rankings. Meanwhile, Sinaloan singer-songwriter Nuñez, has achieved a streak of three consecutive chart-toppers since April 2024, all through collaborations.

Elsewhere, with a 9-5 climb, the song also snatches a new peak on the overall Latin Airplay chart, marking Especial’s highest-charting song there. Further, Nuñez matches the No. 5-peak achieved through “First Love,” with Oscar Ortiz (April).
