This was the first public mention of Emmer’s intention to run for speaker. Sherman further added: “The Minnesotan is currently the No. 3 House Republican. He’ll immediately become the frontrunner in this race.” McHenry’s position as temporary Speaker of the House does not give him the power to advance legislation. As a consequence, several proposals, including those connected to cryptocurrencies, have stuck, underscoring the need for a new speaker. The crypto community as a whole would probably applaud if Emmer were elected Speaker. Emmer has often advocated for cryptocurrencies and has opposed the United States SEC and its chairman, Gary Gensler, policy of regulation via enforcement. On October 20th, Rep. Brad Finstad issued a statement endorsing Emmer for speaker. In particular, Republican Representative Kevin McCarthy, who was deposed as speaker on October 4, is said to be on Emmer’s side.
