During a recent interview on Radio Andy’s “Reality Checked,” Cynthia Bailey from “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” and the “Humble Brag” podcast spoke to Dorinda Medley about the difference in spending habits between old and new Housewives.
“We weren’t very self-aware, so we weren’t overly obsessed with what we looked like,” Dorinda said of the show’s earlier seasons.
“These new Housewives, they literally have their own photographers that travel with them. Their own glam squads,” Cynthia said. “I’m like, ‘I don’t know how much money you guys are making, but I know a lot of it is going to these pictures that have to be on Instagram.'”
“Let me tell you a secret also, too, about the old Housewives — we’re very frugal,” Dorinda added.
“We are. We’re cheap!” Cynthia said. “Let me tell you something. The woman that I work with, Ms. Crystal Kung Minkoff from ‘Humble Brag,’ that is the cheapest, richest woman that I know … She won’t spend a dime.”
She continued, “Because of her, I specifically will never buy another first-class ticket in my life. I go coach. Well, I go main class. And then she told me that even then I need to go to basic, but I can’t even check a bag in basic. I’m like, ‘Crystal, you know I need a bag.’ And she’s like, ‘No, it doesn’t matter. You can figure it out.’ … She is no joke. I’m gonna be rich with her because I’m not gonna spend any money.”
