Everyone has their own plane in this California neighborhood

In this awesome California neighborhood, almost all of the 124 homes each have their own plane outside, and there’s an interesting reason for this.

The neighborhood, called Cameron Airpark Estates, was built in 1963 in Sacramento, California. If you were to buy a house here, your home would come with a hangar, and aircraft are as common on the road as cars.

This is like stepping into an alternate universe where airplanes taxiing down the road is the norm and the neighborhood has been built especially to accommodate planes rather than cars.

There’s nothing cooler than residents being able to open their garage door, drive onto the runway at Cameron Park Airport and just take to the skies in a matter of minutes.

The California neighborhood has more than just one plane…it has 124

Imagine being able to just open your garage door, taxi your plane out onto a runway, and just fly away.

That’s the case for these residents who live in Cameron Airpark Estates in Sacramento, California, a suburban neighborhood built specifically for aircraft owners.

Built after the Second World War in 1963, Cameron Airpark Estates was born, and instead of cars lining the streets, it was built so you could bring your Cessna and fly away when you needed to.

The neighborhood was designed with planes in mind, so the roads are actually 100 feet wide. That’s wide enough for two planes to pass each other without causing any issues.

Each house comes with its own special hangar, and each of the 124 houses backs onto the runway at Cameron Park Airport.

Street signs and mailboxes are built specifically to be low, meaning that they won’t get knocked over by plane wings.

And in a cute move, every road is named after a plane theme, from Boeing road to Cessna drive.

In lots of cases, people would complain about living so close to an airport, but in this case, it’s part of the draw for aviation enthusiasts.

Imagine how quickly you could get to the office if you’re late for work!
