Elon Musk has big plans for the Cybertruck and the goal is to produce hundreds of thousands of trucks every year.

Still, even at that rate, it will take forever to get yours if you’ve ordered one.

All it takes to pre-order the Cybertruck is an internet connection to access the Tesla website and $100.

That’s how much the pre-order costs.

And by the way, that $100 deposit is fully refundable.

For that reason, we can assume some people may have placed an order for fun or to show off on social media, and so some of these orders may be canceled.

The bottom line is Tesla has so far accumulated a backlog of over 1.9 million orders.

Cybertruck would-be owners are actually keeping track of this using a complicated system based on the RN number of the vehicle.

Now, that’s great for them, but what isn’t great is they’re going to have to wait a very long time to get one.

This is because Tesla plans to 375,000 units per year with Giga Texas running at full capacity, and it’s easy to do that math.

With over 1.9 million trucks to build, it’ll take about five years to carry out all those orders.

And that’s assuming the 375,000 units per year estimate is actually achievable and that, for now at least, sounds a bit utopistic.

Only a handful of trucks have been produced so far, and these are ‘Beta’ versions because a full-fledged, final production version of the Cybertruck is yet to be introduced.

And let’s not forget we don’t even know what it costs yet.

Musk initially said it’d cost around $40,000, but he says that estimate is no longer accurate.

He also said there’ll be a tri-motor ‘Performance‘ version, and several cool wrap options may be available.

The top-of-the-range model with all the bells and whistles is likely to cost six figures.

After all, that’s what Tesla charges for the Model S Plaid.
