Major breakthrough for Tesla in Texas could make now the perfect time to switch from a gas vehicle

As a leading global EV distributor, Tesla has now hit a major breakthrough, which could see it step back up to the plate as the industry leader and create ripples that make it the best time to switch away from a gas car.

It’s already been quite a year for the brand.

While sales are flip-flopping, the company has released new models, new software, and new FSD trials that could catapult it back to the top of the EV game.

But its most recent breakthrough could be a game changer for all aspiring electric vehicle owners as Tesla moves even further ahead of gas cars.

Tesla gets massive breakthrough in EV batteries that could change the game

Tesla has been losing ground in its monopoly of the electric vehicle industry, with sales down 13 percernt already this year.

Stiff competition from China has been a big part of that, as the up-and-coming market is the best in the business when it comes to charging.

However, the brand appears to be biting back, as it has announced a major breakthrough in its battery technology.

Director of Cell Manufacturing Operations, Michael Guilfoy, revealed on LinkedIn that the 4680 battery is now the lowest KW/H cell in the world.

“Our Cell Manufacturing team in Texas reached a huge milestone at the end of 2024 with becoming the lowest cost per kWh battery cell producer for Tesla,” Guilfoy said.

This was echoed by Elon Musk during the Tesla Q1 earnings report livestream.

“We’re making the most efficient cell in the world… the lowest Kw/h cell,” he said.

What that means is that the batteries can last much longer and generate the highest range per cell, which opens massive doors for the company.

Still, the company’s EV models are moderate in their range, compared to others. So it’ll be interesting to see how the Texas facility chooses to capitalize on this efficiency milestone.

For gas car users, though, it might be bad news.

The EV industry will be scrambling to take the throne from Tesla and create much more efficient batteries, which will only benefit the new cars’ ranges and, eventually, nullify the stereotypical fears of owning electric cars. The post Major breakthrough for Tesla in Texas could make now the perfect time to switch from a gas vehicle appeared first on Supercar Blondie.
