It’s not every day you find your dream car listed for way below its market price.
The Porsche 911 SC is one of the automaker’s most beloved vehicles.
This YouTuber found a 1982 model that hadn’t been driven for nearly two decades, and he instantly fell in love.
But once he started to look closer, he began to have doubts.

The abandoned Porsche 911 SC

YouTuber Mat Watson received a call from someone who found a car they knew he’d love.
Watson headed through to the garage and pulled back the tarp to reveal a 1982 Porsche 911 SC.
It had 120,000 miles on the clock and had been parked in a garage since 2008.
This was Watson’s dream car, and he knew he had to have it.
These models are known for retaining their value, but this one had a price tag of just $15,000.
Watson knew he needed to think carefully, lest he end up like the man who spent months fixing up the cheapest Porsche 911 in the world with no success.
At first glance, the car looked okay, with a few spots of rust and bubbles on the hood.
He estimated this would cost $19,000 to fix.
A total cost of $34,000 is still a good bargain, however, but Wilson needed to be sure there wouldn’t be further hidden costs.
Giving up on his dream car

Once the 911 was in the workshop, though, the true extent of the damage started to show.
The steering wheel, stereo, and speakers had all been replaced with cheap versions that definitely didn’t add to the Porsche’s charm.
The door cards needed to be replaced, so they wouldn’t match the rest of the car.
All of this didn’t faze Watson, though, who declared he fell in love as soon as he sat in the leather sports seats.
The last test would be the engine, which hadn’t been started in years.
A new battery and fuel pump were fitted, and the engine roared to life.
However, it also emitted a cloud of smoke so thick that they had to evacuate.
After tallying up all the car’s issues, the Porsche wasn’t looking like such a bargain anymore.
The jobs, from replacing rusted parts to installing a new engine, would set Watson back $81,000 in total.
Sensing that his dream car was becoming something of a nightmare, he decided to walk away.
