Man finds out what happens if you fill up a Ford pick-up truck with vodka instead of gas
It works, but with a catch The post Man finds out what happens if you fill up a Ford pick-up truck with vodka instead of gas appeared first on Supercar Blondie.

This guy tried running his Ford Ranger pick-up truck on vodka instead of gas.
The result was shocking.
But there are two least things worth pointing out.
Including something that will be music to the ears of car fans.

This is what happens when you put vodka in the tank of this pick-up truck
The guy behind the AutoVlog YouTube channel tried using vodka instead of gas to fuel his car.
For this experiment, he used his 1994 Ford Ranger pick-up truck, which he nicknamed the ‘Ranger Danger’.
First, he let the truck run out of gas in order to make sure the tank was completely empty, which took a lot longer than he thought, by the way.
And then he filled it up with vodka.
Amazingly, the truck started and ran… sort of.
We know that the Ranger is one of the toughest trucks out there, but there are still two things worth noting.
First, the truck made a heck of a racket, the sort of sound you don’t want to hear from your vehicle, but it ran.
The second thing to remember is that vodka will definitely ruin the engine components, especially if the truck is new, which this one isn’t.
Still, at least hardcore car fans will be happy to confirm that, yes, older vehicles are a lot more robust than new ones.
These experiments might no longer be possible in the future

A couple of decades ago, when diesel was still popular, there was this myth that you could run a diesel vehicle on just about anything.
It was indeed a myth, but it is (and was) true that diesel is quite versatile and people are known to have used vegetable oil, kerosene, or even cooking oil in place of diesel in emergencies.
Obviously you can’t just go ahead and ‘try this at home’.
Partly because it still might damage the engine, partly because there are regions where such experiments aren’t always legal, but mostly because diesel is dying anyway.
Volkswagen’s ‘dieselgate’ killed it but, more importantly, dieselgate also kick-started the electrification of everything, and that might soon kill the gas engine as well.
It’s not going to happen tomorrow, but there are already countries and markets where 90 percent of all cars sold are electric.
