A British man managed to snap up his dream car – a BMW M635CSi for just £25 (around $35) due to a little-known rule.

The BMW M635CSi was unveiled in 1983 as the first in its line of M6 models.

The car came with a 282 horsepower straight-six engine in Europe, while the US version, known simply as the M6, was a little less powerful at 256HP.

During its production run, which ended in 1989, BMW produced just 5,855 M635CSis – so finding one today is a pretty rare thing, but that’s exactly what happened to this British car enthusiast.

There’s not many folks who can claim to have find their dream car abandoned and in need of rescuing, although it does happen – just ask this guy who found a Porsche 911 SC that had been parked since 2008, or this man who found a one-of-eight Ultima Sports supercar gathering dust in an old barn.

Over in the UK, Taylor, from Taylor Made Cars, revealed that he found his dream BMW M635CSi completely abandoned in a council garage.

The poor old BMW was destined for the scrapyard, but Taylor wasn’t about to let that happen.

So, he did a bit of research and was able to use a little-known UK rule that allowed him to get his hand on the car for next to nothing.

However, before you get too excited, thinking you might stumble across an abandoned supercar haul and lay claim to it – Taylor did warn that it takes a lot of research.

Firstly, he had to check that the land it was parked on wasn’t privately owned or rented.

After doing some digging, he learned that the garage that was housing his dream car hadn’t been rented in more than a decade.

Next up, Taylor had to look into the car’s history and discovered that it had not been taxed, or claimed by anyone, in years.

He tried to contact the previous owner but without much to go on, he hit a dead end.

With a demolition for the garage looming, Taylor decided to go ahead and buy the car for only £25 ($33).

But as you might imagine for a car that’s been parked for years, with a mysterious past, the BMW wasn’t in the best condition.

Nonetheless, Taylor was determined to get it back on the road and 11 years on, he’s managed just that.

In fact, the car looks as good today as the day it was made and Taylor is delighted with his super-cheap find.

“I will never part ways with it. I’ll die before I sell this car,” Taylor said.
