Despite the massive hype surrounding the upcoming sequel, Grand Theft Auto 5 isn’t the best-selling video game in the world.
That title belongs to Minecraft, and the number of copies the game sold is mind-blowing.
Mojang Studios, the developer who made Minecraft, recently revealed the video game has now sold more than 300 million copies worldwide.
That is mighty impressive, especially when you consider Grand Theft Auto 5, which is in second place, ‘only’ sold 185 million copies as of 2023.
Minecraft was first released in 2011 by Mojang, an independent video game developer from Sweden, and it became a instant hit.
A few years later, in 2014, Microsoft bought the game for a whopping $2.5 billion.
Minecraft popularity was boosted by YouTubers who regularly share video updates about their progress in the game.
Even MrBeast and PewDiePie made Minecraft videos at some point.
Minecraft has now sold over 300 million copies. It was already the bestselling game of all time, but now it’s beating second place by over 100 million
