The moment the ‘Drake Shake’ hit

Natasha, a TikTok travel vlogger who goes by theworldpursuit, had her heart set on Antarctica.

The only catch is that to get there by ship, you have to cross the Drake Passage – a 600-mile gauntlet of ocean between the tip of South America and the South Shetland Islands.

Sailors have a nickname for its moods: Drake Lake if you’re lucky, Drake Shake if you’re not.

Natasha got the bad one – both ways.

In her viral clip, she narrates from the rocking ship: “I mustered the strength to get out of bed and ask the gods what I did to disappoint them.”

Video shows waves smashing against her cabin window as passengers inch along corridors.

Even breakfast was a challenge.

She scarfed it down, then bolted back to her room to get ‘horizontal’ with some Dramamine.

The day quickly became what she called her ‘most unproductive ever,’ interrupted only by nature documentaries and the boat’s occasional lurch that made her question her life choices.

The return trip was even worse.

The Drake doubled down, stretching the journey to twice as long, with nonstop chaos until land finally appeared on the horizon.

TikTok is split between panic and envy when it comes to the Drake Passage

The footage has racked up millions of views and thousands of comments, and the reactions could not be more divided.

Some viewers recoiled in horror.

“I would immediately start crying,” one wrote.

Another confessed: “I got seasick just watching.”

But not everyone was horrified.

A surprising chunk of TikTok called the trip ‘relaxing,’ with some imagining they’d drift off to sleep in the rocking cabin like it was a lullaby.

Others called it the ultimate adventure, the kind of story you dine out on for years.

And that’s the allure of the Drake Passage – equal parts bucket-list expedition and floating nightmare fuel.

Natasha got both. TikTok got the drama.

As for the rest of us? We’re staying very, very dry.
