‘The cat is out of the bag’ – these are the exact words Elon Musk used in the latest Tesla earnings call to confirm that the forthcoming affordable new Tesla car is just a Model Y.

It’s a remodeled Model Y, to be exact.

We also know what it looks like.

But people still have questions.

What we can expect from the affordable new Tesla

The latest Tesla’s earnings call was entertaining, like they often can be, but the news about Tesla’s affordable new car wasn’t to everyone’s liking.

That’s because the long-awaited entry-level Tesla is coming, but it’ll simply be a reworked version of Model Y.

“The cat is out of the bag. [The entry-level Tesla] is just a Model Y,” Elon Musk told shareholders.

At that point, people began wondering what that meant in practical terms.

Well, we have a clearer idea now.

A content creator in China who goes by Garage 42 shared a video highlighting the key differences.

The video quality isn’t great, but still good enough to spot a few things.

The continuous light strip at the back is gone, replaced by smaller LED lights, and the panoramic glass roof was also replaced with a regular metal roof.

Entry-level Tesla buyers will also have to make do without the rear entertainment screens.

There’s another question in everyone’s mind because, presumably, the Model Y will have less range and power, although we don’t know that for sure yet.

We’ll find out soon enough.

What’s going on with this entry-level Model Y?

Tesla contradicted itself several times about the entry-level model.

Rumors about a sub-$30k Tesla ‘Model Q’ have been circulating for years.

But when the Cybercab was unveiled back in October, and both Musk and Tesla chief designer Franz von Holzhausen said a non-autonomous Cybercab – ie, a smaller model – would never get made.

Musk even went as far as to say that it ‘would be silly’ and ‘pointless‘ to launch a non-autonomous Cybercab equivalent.

A few months later, the company changed its mind again and promised the long-awaited affordable model would be here by the end of the year.

Well, technically, Tesla kept its promise. The post Pictures of affordable new Tesla car have leaked online appeared first on Supercar Blondie.
