Porsche Taycan and Macan EV owners in the US can now charge their car using Tesla Superchargers.
That’s good news for Porsche owners who’ll be able to use Superchargers like other brands do.
Interestingly, they’ll also have to use the Tesla app.
But with a catch.

Taycan and Macan EV owners can now charge at Tesla Superchargers
In the US, Tesla Superchargers can be used by other brands under certain conditions.
From Lucid to Kia and Mercedes, the list of EV makers with access to Superchargers is longer than people think.
Interestingly, Porsche Taycan owners will still have to download the Tesla app, which is ironic.
But this oddity will be short-lived: Porsche promised to integrate Supercharger access in its app as soon as possible.
Taycan owners will also need the NACS DC adapter, which is the only one supported by Tesla Superchargers.
Tesla’s charging network is the largest in the world
For a very long time, Tesla was the only EV brand in the world with its own network of proprietary chargers.
That’s no longer the case, but Tesla’s charging network is still the largest of any other manufacturer.
Superchargers aren’t exactly cheap, but they’re fast, and convenient, especially in areas where public charging infrastructure is still insufficient.
Tesla installed the first Supercharger in 2012 in California, and it now has 7,500 Superchargers globally, with over 70,000 charging stalls, around 23,500 of which are located in the US.
Even though charging at Superchargers is becoming less common due to the rise of home chargers and alternative charging methods, Tesla’s charging points are still an important part of Tesla’s business.
So much so that Tesla (indirectly) convinced other manufacturers to abandon their charging standard to adopt Tesla’s standard, the aforementioned NACS DC port. The post Porsche EVs get U.S. Tesla Supercharger access appeared first on Supercar Blondie.
