All-terrain lovers are in for a treat with the imminent release of Range Rover’s first electric SUV, which has already amassed a waitlist of 61,000 potential buyers.

The announcement followed the company’s fourth quarter and annual financial reports for 2025 on Wednesday.

Signatures to join the waitlist went up from 57,000 in January and around 48,000 in November 2024.

According to Jaguar Land Rover’s (JLR) Director of Product Engineering, Thomas Müller, the robust and sleekly designed electric truck was built to compete and even surpass its fuel-type counterparts.

“Range Rover Electric matches the performance of its ICE [internal combustion engines] equivalents; in some instances, even surpassing them,” Müller said after driving the brand-new SUV up to 328 feet on sand dunes.

This superb EV has been put to the test on all kinds of surfaces, including a whopping 45,000 miles over frozen lakes and tundras.

It’s clear this ride has everything adventure lovers have been hoping for, with features that will make them forget all about gas-guzzling trucks.

The Range Rover’s electric SUV includes JLR’s first in-house 800V battery and electric powertrain. Car makers haven’t provided the car’s driving range yet, but so far, it’s known that a 117 kWh battery will power it.

Only months away from its debut, the Range Rover Electric is currently undergoing its winter testing in Sweden.

Once winter testing is over, the Range Rover electric SUV will hit showrooms later this year.

Company officials say they are testing EV production lines at their Solihull plant in the UK.

JLR executives have also confirmed they plan to launch smaller electric models in 2026, including the Sport and Velar, and introduce a new EV under its Freelander brand with Chery Auto. The post Range Rover’s first electric SUV is almost here and the waiting list is getting seriously long appeared first on Supercar Blondie.
