The Tesla Cybertruck was built to conquer the wilderness, but a flat tire doesn’t care how futuristic your truck looks.
Jeff Hart found that out the hard way in Montana, when a sharp rock sliced through one of his tires 17 miles from the nearest paved road.
When you’re that far out, AAA isn’t showing up. It’s you, your truck, and whatever tricks it’s hiding in the software.
And in this case, the Cybertruck had just enough tech magic to turn disaster into a slow but safe escape.

The crucial Tesla tool that kept him moving
Hart detailed the ordeal in a post to Facebook.
The tire was done for, but luckily the wheel itself wasn’t damaged. Problem was, Tesla doesn’t include a spare, so there was no quick fix.
Instead, he leaned on the Cybertruck’s off-road settings.
First he raised the suspension, hoping to take a little weight off the ruined tire.
Then he switched on something called hill descent control in Baja Mode – basically a system that locks the truck at a steady crawl.
At five miles per hour, the Cybertruck just inched along the rough gravel track without sliding or lurching.
It wasn’t pretty. The shredded tire was destroyed by the end, but the truck stayed stable and under control.
Hours later, Hart reached a tow truck, then a Missoula tire shop that stayed open late to bolt on a replacement.
In the end, the ordeal was five hours from blowout to back on the road.
Why Tesla’s missing spare still matters
Of course, none of this would’ve been a story if there’d been a spare tire in the back, and Hart admitted he’ll never leave home again without a plug kit, pump, and proper spare.
Automakers love to brag about aero gains and weight savings, but this story shows ditching the spare just makes breakdowns longer and messier.
Still, the Cybertruck held its own.
It didn’t fold under pressure, and its hill descent control feature turned out to be far more useful than anyone would’ve guessed.
Let’s just hope this story serves as a reminder that for all the stainless steel flash and futuristic tech, sometimes the difference between a five-hour ordeal and a quick fix is still the simplest thing of all.The post Tesla Cybertruck owner has blowout 17 miles from main road in Montana then finds one crucial tool that saves the day appeared first on Supercar Blondie.
