This Texas woman took a 542,000-mile Mercedes Wagon for a drive and everything immediately went down hill.
Even though the 1997 Mercedes E-Class W210 wagon was built to last, this could still have been the highest-mileage W210 ever.
She managed to get her hands on the 28-year-old Mercedes for $800 before paying $1,300 in repairs on the brake lines and the radiator.
Unfortunately, her test drive of the old car immediately threw up issues.

1997 was a big year as it was the year of James Cameron’s seminal masterpiece Titanic, but also the year that this old Mercedes E-Class Wagon W210 car was built.
Now 28 years old, it comes with 542,000 miles on the clock and its original engine.
Mary from The Fast Lane Car on YouTube decided that she was going to attempt to safely drive the old car, which could possibly be the highest-mileage W210 ever.
She affectionately named it ‘Betty’.
Immediately after setting off, Mary saw a ‘check engine’ light.
But considering it was the original engine, there was no real surprise that the almost three-decade-old engine was crying out for attention.
As she carried on driving, the repairs to the radiator and break lines were proving their worth, but a distinct wheeze and a squeak then took over.
Mary described the sounds as the ‘dying breath of a Victorian king’ and a ‘ghostly owl’ respectively.
Mary was impressed by the fact the engine and transmission still worked and compared it to ‘never needing a hip replacement at 87’.
A surprise discovery of secret fold-out trunk seats delighted Mary, but they were tiny and faced backwards, only really useable for children.
Despite everything, betty plowed on and despite her great age, she still delighted and impressed at least one passenger, not the owl or the dying king though. The post Texas woman buys a 542,000 mile Mercedes Wagon and immediately disaster strikes appeared first on Supercar Blondie.
