A new study has brought to light an unexpected side effect of having more EVs on the road.

The study was conducted by EIT Urban Mobility and looked at EVs in London, Milan and Barcelona.

It’s long been known that EVs cut down on exhaust emissions – in fact, it’s one of their selling points.

But now, a new benefit has been discovered.

More and more EVs are driving the streets of cities all over the world.

One of the most touted benefits of going electric is that it cuts down on exhaust emissions, which can cause health issues to those who inhale it.

But a new study has found that there’s another benefit that has gone unnoticed up until now.

Conducted by EIT Urban Mobility in London, Milan, and Barcelona, the study found that brake dust pollution had been cut by 83 percent.

This is because electric vehicles use regenerative braking, which allows them to slow down without rubbing friction brakes.

The analysis also took into account other forms of non-exhaust pollution.

With regards to tire wear, EVs was found to be slightly higher than gas cars.

However, brake dust is a far bigger concern, as it is more likely to enter the atmosphere and contribute to worsening air pollution.

One study found that metal particles from the abrasion of brake pads can cause inflammation and reduce immune cells’ ability to fight bacteria.

At any rate, less brake dust pollution in the air can only be a good thing and makes the case for increased EV usage.

EVs are constantly being analyzed

As more and more people buy EVs, it seems like studies are being conducted to analyze every minute detail of them.

One study looked at how long owners keep their EVs around for, which turned out to be three years – nine years shorter than the average for gas-powered cars.

There have also been studies that assessed which states were the best for an electric car, and which have revealed the financial impact of transitioning from gas to electric.

Not all studies come out positively for EVs however, as one found that they lose value faster than their gas-powered counterparts.
