The Volonaut Airbike flying motorbike looks like it came straight out of Star Wars
Could this be the future? Let's hope so The post The Volonaut Airbike flying motorbike looks like it came straight out of Star Wars appeared first on Supercar Blondie.

This is the Volonaut Airbike, and if you’re a fan of Star Wars, you’ll already be thinking the same thing as us.
It looks like a ‘speeder’ straight out of science fiction, but this is very real.
Described by the makers as a ‘superbike for the skies’, the Airbike is a glimpse into a future where people glide around landscapes with ease, blessed with a 360 view of their surroundings.

The company describes the Volonaut Airbike as a ‘breakthrough in personal air mobility’ and – honestly – it’s hard to disagree.
We’ve seen flying cars from companies such as XPeng and Aerofugia, but they are more akin to cars than motorbikes.
We’ve seen people attempt to create flying bikes before – not to mention bizarre motorbikes that look like planes – but this is unlike anything we’ve encountered to date.
According to a press release, the Airbike doesn’t use propellers to fly, and has a ‘compact silhouette [that] closely resembles today’s sport motorcycles’.
“The futuristic single occupant vehicle is a realization of a bold concept often portrayed in science-fiction movies – this is where the inspiration came from many years ago and with time became the obsession to its creator,” the release states.
The ‘engineering genius’ behind the Volonaut Airbike
The creator behind the Volonaut Airbike is Tomasz Patan, a man with form for creating futuristic eVTOL concepts.
Tomasz has been described as an ‘engineering genius’ and was founder and technical engineer at left-field flying machine company Jetson.
That company brought us the remarkable Jetson ONE, but now Tomasz has emerged from ‘stealth mode’ to bring us the Volonaut Airbike.
But, how does it all work?
A Star Wars speeder steps straight into reality
“The Airbike has a proprietary stabilisation system enhanced by a flight computer which provides automatic hover and ease of control for its rider,” the press release continues.
“The unique riding position with unobstructed 360 degree view helps the rider to quickly become one with the flying machine and provides the sensation of complete freedom.”
The lack of potentially-dangerous spinning propellers also means that the Airbike could be a real game-changer in crowded areas.
As for speed, the Airbike boasts more impressive numbers.
Descrbied as a ‘superbike for the skies’ the jet propulsion system allegedly allows the Airbike to carry one rider at speeds up to 200km/h or 124mph.
That’s seriously impressive if true.
Unfortunately, that’s all we know about the Airbike for now, but if that isn’t a tantalizing teaser, we don’t know what is.
Perhaps in future you won’t have to travel to the forest moon of Endor to experience the genuine Star Wars speeder experience.
