ICE autos have suffered a pretty large setback against the onslaught of EVs, but despite that, it seems as though gas cars are here to stay.

The global car industry has witnessed an enormous shift in the last few years.

EVs have boomed in popularity, with gas cars seemingly suffering somewhat as a result.

However, there could well be signs that gas cars aren’t going anywhere yet.

EVs have surged in power – but gas cars are here to stay

In the auto industry, gas cars have very much taken a backseat thanks to the recent boom in demand for EVs.

It has seen all-EV brands, such as BYD, become some of the biggest names in the car industry.

However, there are signs that gas cars are far from being dead and buried just yet.

Firstly, and perhaps most importantly, is the fact that gas cars are still the dominant force.

More than 1.3 billion gas cars are still in use on the roads around the globe – meaning they won’t just vanish overnight.

Considering the dominance of the number above, the next most important reason is infrastructure, or rather, the lack of it.

The very large majority of EV charging infrastructure is located in modern, urban cities.

While gas stations are very much still the lifeblood of suburban and rural communities across the world.

When you factor in the two reasons above, it directly leads to the next sign for ICE cars staying alive.

And it is simply the fact that, for the most part, gas still outsells EVs by almost four to one.

Used ICE cars still account for about 80 percent of all used vehicle sales in the US.

Additionally, gas trucks and SUVs remain among the best-selling vehicles in the world.

In the US in particular, the Chevy Silverado, Ford F-150, and Ram 1500 continue to lead sales charts.

Gas remains the logical choice for many

It is clear that, for the majority of people, gas cars are still the obvious priority.

And despite not being a directly relevant reason, all major motorsports still use internal combustion.

For instance, NASCAR utilizes fully gas cars to compete in the NASCAR Cup Series.

Even Formula 1 – the pinnacle of four-wheeled motorsport – uses hybrid power units.

And, far from seeking to move to EVs, F1 is exploring synthetic fuels to power its future.

That said, the evolution of the EV industry has been as rapid as it has been impressive, and the broad appeal that EVs have is undeniable.

Having once been dismissed as a novelty, EVs now represent a very real alternative for many.

But don’t think ICE autos are dead just yet – gas cars are here to stay for the foreseeable future. The post There are 10 major signs that gas cars are here to stay amid tug-of-war with EVs appeared first on Supercar Blondie.
