City of La Vergne Key Facts Nashville Chief of Police John Drake on Saturday called for the arrest of his son, 38-year-old John Drake Jr., after he allegedly shot two officers outside of a Dollar General at about 2:30 p.m. in La Vergne, about 20 miles southeast of Nashville. One officer was shot in the shoulder and has been released from the hospital; the other was shot in his groin and forearm and was in stable condition as of Sunday afternoon, the Tennessean reported. Drake Jr., who is wanted on two counts of attempted first-degree murder in the shooting, is said to have fled the scene in a stolen car and had not yet been arrested as of 2 p.m. Sunday. Drake said in a statement his son “resorted to years of criminal activity” starting in his teenage years and is now a convicted felon with whom he has had “very minimal contact over many years.” Drake Jr.’s criminal history dates back to 2005, with 59 criminal charges in Davidson County since, WSMV, the Nashville NBC affiliate, reported.
