One of the fastest-growing electric vehicle producers, BYD, is rolling out lightning-fast EV charging devices throughout multiple countries in Europe, and American rivals like Tesla can’t keep up.
The crux of electric vehicle usage is access to chargers and the time it takes to charge up.
Whereas gas pumps are widely accessible, the electric infrastructure lags far behind.
But the Chinese market is swooping in to alleviate this pressure throught Europe, by installing EV charging devices that can top up cars in five minutes flat.

BYD has taken full advantage of the rise in popularity of EVs and rocketed to stardom since 2020.
So much so that it has usurped Tesla in the UK earlier this month, shortly after dominating the entirety of the European market in a ‘watershed moment’.
The cheaper Tesla alternative has shipped its nicely-priced fleet from China, and its affordability is only set to be improved with its industry-changing luxury Denza Z, putting a ‘supercar’ in the hands of your average Joe.
Now, the EU market is being primed with BYD EV charging devices, which put the Tesla Supercharger to shame.
The Chinese company announced its next-gen charging platform in April, claiming to have peak rates of 1,000KW, which could effectively fill up your batteries in a handful of minutes.
Dubbed as the first ‘megawatt flash chargers’, the company intends to collaborate with local infrastructure companies to have them installed at gas pumps around Europe.
They will also soon be available at dealerships.
This comes after BYD is set to open a new factory in Hungary by the end of the year, which will help circulate its cars and battery tech.
According to BYD, the ‘flash chargers’ can boost your battery from 20 to 80 percent – the recommended threshold – in five minutes flat.
Simply plug in, nip in for your coffee, and while there’s steam still coming off your flat white, you’ll be ready to go.
By comparison, Tesla has only just cracked 500KW chargers, which are slowly being drip-fed around the States.
BYD isn’t slowing down, either.
Already, the Chinese electric vehicle maker has launched two cars that can completely charge their 248-mile batteries in five minutes flat.
That said, they will not be launching in the US, which gives some time for Tesla to hit back. The post China’s BYD is rolling out lightning-fast charging in Europe and Tesla can’t keep up appeared first on Supercar Blondie.
