You have never seen a rescue car like this drone-launching Renault EV

Check out the Renault Vision 4Rescue fire rescue concept vehicle that’s based on the 4 E-Tech and comes with its own drone launcher mounted on the roof.

The one-off EV concept is designed to be a fire command center on wheels. 

To create the Vision 4Rescue, Renault worked directly with three fire departments, including the Paris Fire Brigade. 

Although it’s based on the 4 E-Tech, it has had numerous alterations and adjustments to make it ideally equipped for a fire rescue operation and make the concept an ‘intelligent rescue vehicle’.

There are some truly incredible concept vehicles out there, like this newly unveiled liquid-hydrogen-powered Toyota or this wild-looking BMW that looks like it’s alive. 

However, the new Renault Vision 4Rescue concept is a little bit different because it was designed with life-saving in mind. 

The Renault Vision 4Rescue has an extra 0.6 inches (15mm) of clearance over the standard 4 E-Tech and has been kitted out with some chunky flare fenders and modified bumpers.

Its exterior is painted bright red and covered with a mix of matte and gloss graphics, which make it clear it’s a rescue vehicle, as well as emergency lights. 

On top, there’s a roof-mounted storage box, which houses a long-range drone and a short-range drone, enabling the rescue team to visualize the site they are working on. 

The smart tech doesn’t end there, either.

In fact, there are almost 20 interconnected solutions that offer an enhanced view of the field and enable real-time analysis of the scene using multiple sources. 

Alongside the drone launcher, the roof-mounted storage box contains other useful equipment which can be used to ‘restore a communications network in the wake of a disaster.’

Inside, there’s a split cargo area with an upper section that functions as a slide-out workstation with a couple of monitors and a keyboard.

This works as a communication hub and is also used to monitor the drone. 

Underneath that section, there are storage compartments with room to hold all sorts of emergency equipment, like helmets, walkie-talkies, and tablets. 

The cockpit remains pretty much unchanged from the 4 E-Tech, but it does have seats made from recycled foam from old firefighting suits, which is a pretty neat touch. 

While the super-smart concept has been ‘designed with and for firefighters’, according to Renault, it’s also super versatile and could be adapted for a number of different uses.
