Chinese company makes 10,000 EVs in just one single week in major milestone

Chinese company Leapmotor has achieved a major milestone by producing 10,000 units of its new B01 electric sedan in just one week after production began.

The breakthrough comes less than seven days after the model’s official launch on July 24, 2025, and is the fastest production ramp‑up in the company’s history.

Within 72 hours of launch, the B01 already had more than 10,000 firm orders.

Leapmotor has built momentum among younger, tech‑savvy buyers, further boosted by its strategic partnership with global automaker Stellantis.

Leapmotor is backed by Stellantis

Leapmotor was founded in late 2015 in Hangzhou, China, and delivered its first vehicles in 2019.

In its early years, the Chinese company stayed relatively under the radar.

However, this changed in 2023, when the company attracted the attention of Stellantis, who invested roughly €1.5 billion ($1.73 billion).

This was a significant stake, given that it was about 20 percent of the company.

That partnership became instrumental to Leapmotor’s European rollout, especially since Stellantis owns quite a few car brands.

In late 2024, its T03 and C10 models began retailing in European countries, making a splash in the EV-friendly continent.

The B01 is the second model in Leapmotor’s new B‑series, with six different trim levels.

Prices start at RMB 89,800 ($12,500) for the basic 267-mile version, while the top-end LiDAR-equipped variant with 403 miles of range will set you back RMB 119,800 ($16,650).

The 10,000‑unit milestone was confirmed on July 30, 2025, when the Chinese company announced the 10,000th B01 rolled off the Jinhua assembly line.

Early buyers overwhelmingly opted for the long‑range version, with over 70 percent choosing the 403-mile trim.

About 72 percent of the clientele are under 35, signaling strong traction among younger buyers.

Fierce competition in the Chinese EV market

Leapmotor’s rise is proof of China’s broader EV supremacy.

In 2024, China accounted for nearly 60 percent of global EV production.

The country also dominates the battery supply chain, producing over 75 per cent of global lithium-ion cells, and hosting most major battery firms.

There is fierce competition among hundreds of manufacturers in the field, but experts say that only 15 Chinese EV brands are likely to survive by 2030.

Leapmotor is definitely poised to be one of the survivors, given that they are ranked number one among Chinese New Energy Vehicle (NEV) start-ups in sales for June 2025.

The company delivered 48,006 vehicles in June alone, and over 221,600 in the first half of the year.

As Leapmotor eyes broader global expansion, the B01’s record week signals its appeal to its customers.

It also mirrors the success of other popular EV models, like Xiaomi’s YU7, which made headlines when it received over 200,000 orders in just three minutes. The post Chinese company makes 10,000 EVs in just one single week in major milestone appeared first on Supercar Blondie.
